In the past few years two of Gautham Vasudev Menon’s films were shelved abruptly, one being the Suriya starrer ‘Druva Natchathiram’ and the other ‘Yohan: Adhiyayam Ondru’ starring Vijay. In a recent press interaction during the promotions of his production venture ‘Courier Boy Kalyan’ (‘Thamizh Selvanum Thaniyaar Anjalum’ in Tamil) directed by Premsai reporters asked him about the two dropped films of Suriya and Vijay and how much he was hurt because of them.
Gautham said that he had no acquaintance with Vijay before narrating the storyline and ten days before the shooting when he narrated the James Bondesque script which had Vijay as a NRI and the full movie happening abroad the superstar felt that his fans will feel alienated and walked out. The director stated that Vijay did not hurt him in any way and he perfectly understood that the hero did not know his style of working and so decided against the film.
But in the case of ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ GVM said that he had narrated 50-60 percent of the script to Suriya who had worked with him in two previous films ‘Kaakka Kaakka’ and ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ and knew his style of working very well and apart from that he was also a good friend. Gautham said that he was very hurt when Suriya who knew him so well decided to part ways with him.
